The Author
D. J. KILLACKY
Dennis was born in Blaengarw, in South Wales, in 1922, the son of a miner, moving with his family to Southampton at the age of 5. He was only 16 when World War II began, yet rose to acting captain by its close, when he was able to recommence his studies at Southampton University.
He then became a teacher of French at Bournemouth School and, later, Bournemouth College.
In 1977, Dennis was delighted when his first grandchild, Jai, was born, only to have this joy turn to sorrow when he was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy. They became devoted pals, sharing the same daft sense of humour, which led to the stories which have now been published.
Dennis passed away in 2013.
